Therefore, I believe that we should never give up.
One reason is that if we give up too easily, we will rarely achieve anything. It is not unusual for us to fail in our first attempt at something new, so we should not feel discouraged and should try again. Besides, if we always give up when we fail, we will not be able to develop new skills and grow as people. Another reason we should never give up is that we can learn from our mistakes only if we make a new effort. If we do not try again, the lesson we have learned is wasted. Finally, we should never give up because as we work to reach our goals, we develop confidence, and this confidence can help us succeed in other areas of our lives.
Probably the greatest example of persistence is Abraham Lincoln. Born into poverty, Lincoln was faced with defeat throughout his life. He lost eight elections, twice failed in business and suffered a nervous breakdown.
He could have quit many times - but he didn't and because he didn't quit, he became one of the greatest presidents in the history of our country.
Lincoln was a champion and he never gave up.
In short, it is important that we don’t give up when working for our goals. Whether we succeed in the end or not, we will learn something, and what we learn will help us to become better, more confident people. 其次，我想讲一下班级学生英语学习情况。其实在座的家长对自身子女的情况比我更加清楚。他们都是在同一起跑线上起跑的，但经过几年来的学习，学生与学生之间已经拉开了差距。一些好的学生学习兴趣浓，学习劲头足，课堂上积极思维，踊跃发言，课后及时巩固，形成了良性循环的好势头。他们的学习习惯好，在听、说、读、写方面都能齐头并进，我为他们感到欣慰。可也有一些学生，平时学习马虎，基础不扎实，导致他们现在课上听讲出现困难，关键还不努力，书面作业拖拉不交，口头作业根本不完成，如此一来，学习自然成了件头痛事。其实，我们班大部分的学生还是处于中上等层次，尽管他们平时不需要老师操太多的心，费太大的力，但说起各方面的表现，又总有一丝遗憾，因为我们总希望他们能再上一个台阶。
有位教育家曾说过：只有学校教育而没有家庭教育，或者只有家庭教育而没有学校教育，都不能完成培养人这一及其艰巨而复杂的任务。因此在英语学习上，我们的家长也起到了很重要的作用，下面我给在座的家长提一些辅导孩子学习英语的建议
1）让孩子多听录音。
在少儿英语教学中，首先是加强听力训练和说话训练，然后才是读写能力的培养。听说能力差，用英语进行交际的能力差，为此，家长一定要配合学校来要求孩子，要创造条件让孩子多听，多听纯正的录音，听几遍、听清楚了以后，跟着说。我们的升学考试也一年比一年重视听力、阅读等需要综合能力的部分。
2）家长要每天留出15分钟左右时间让孩子读读英语，不管当天有无英语课。
我们要鼓励孩子大声地朗读、对话、问答，大声说，不害羞，这样有利于清楚地表达自身，也有利于他人纠正自身的错误。让孩子熟练背诵课文和单词背诵是一项基本功，可以积累一些日常用语，到用的`时等候就可以脱口而出。但在检查过程中，我们发目前一部分学生背得相当熟练，可问他课文中的某个词组或句子的意思时，他却一问三不知。因此，我们在背诵过程中要注意上下文的理解，在理解的基础上达到背诵的要求，课文中涉及到的相关词组和句型，要让学生熟记，并能用它们来造句、说话。
3）督促孩子预习、复习。这是一项很必要也很重要的任务。
因此，家长的首要任务是及时督促孩子复习当天学习的内容，提前预习下一堂课的学习任务。主要形式就是跟录音机大声读英语单词、句子、对话、短文等。英语和母语不同，没有学习的氛围和环境，必须“曲不离口”地反复诵读，才会记得牢。
4）每天检查孩子的回家作业是否完成，保证第二天能按时上交。
检查时不要只问一下有没有做，也请你亲自看一看，懂得家长还可以看看单词有没有抄错，题目有没有做错之类的。在具体的实施过程中发现：有些学生根本不用心学，能偷懒则偷懒，很多家长比较负责会查问有没有教新课，要不要默写，但孩子喜欢耍小聪明，不如实告诉家长。这时候，你应该及时跟我联系，让孩子知道：隐瞒不是办法，也会受到相应的惩罚。
5）有时我会布置学生回去背诵英语单词，并自身默写。
这时家长可以在家帮助学生默写，你可以报中文，让他默英文。并签上你的名字（注明默写），因为有的学生让他默一遍其实也就是抄一遍交差，一点效果也没有。单词亦是如此，分散记忆、根据读音记忆单词都是可取的方法。有时，我们回家布置抄写单词，其目的不在于抄，而在于提醒学生记忆这些单词。但在日常学习中，学生不重视这项作业，认为只是抄抄而已，不做也没什么关系，其实他连抄写都不做，根本别说是去背了，结果几次下来，他负债累累，应付不过来，学习处于被动状态，从而影响了以后的学习，出现退步现象。因此，请大家在家里督促孩子保质保量地完成英语作业，该读的读、该说的说、该写的写、该记的记，及时巩固，养成不错的习惯。
经过一个学期的教学，我发现我们五年级的家长都是比较认真负责的，对于自身孩子的英语学习都是比较关心的，总而言之，请家长的重视会让学生增多信心，提升学生的学习积极性。与其在期末时看到大家都不愿看到的不理想的分数，还不如在平时就多关心孩子学习的过程。还希望家校携手共同提升孩子们的英语学习水平。孩子是每个家庭的重心和希望，有一位家长说过：“要把培养孩子当作自身的事业来做。”是啊，只要你多投入一点，相信你的孩子会给予你更多的回报！我要讲的就是这些，谢谢大家。

本学期学校采用了新的教材，是译林出版社的牛津小学英语，每学期上完一本。此册书共有10个单元，每个单元分三个部分，分别要求听，认，说。从难度上来说，此教材比去年学校采用的外研社版要简单很多，词汇量少，句型简单，这大大减轻了孩子们学习的压力，同时也减少了家长辅导的难度。教材遵循由浅入深，由易入难的规律，所选内容均是与学生平时日常生活有关，可以密接结合平时的生活经历，切实做到了理论与实践结合，让孩子在现实生活中也能有机会锻炼英语口语。
四、良好学习习惯的培养
重视孩子朗读作业的完成。英语学习的初级阶段，一般书写作业较少，大多是一些朗读的作业。朗读作业同样非常重要，完成时一定要让孩子大声的朗读给您听，哪怕您没时间，边做家务边听，也要让孩子读给您听，老师要求读几遍，就必须完成几遍，当然，这个几遍只是一般意义上的，()也就是老师感觉读这几遍孩子能记住，能记牢。如果您的孩子不能完全掌握，还可以多读几遍，以孩子能记准记牢为标准。读完后家长签字，要具体签上读了几遍，是否读熟。
五、树立家校通力合作，教育才能达到最佳效果的观念
要树立正确的教育观念。现代社会，在小学阶段对孩子影响最大的还是来自学校和家庭。同样的学校同样的老师，学生的发展却有极大的不同，有的学习优秀，能考上理想的重点中学，而有的却差强人意，甚至举步维艰，为什么呢？除了孩子个体的原因，家庭教育的不同是造成差异的主要原因。父母生下孩子，花了大量的时间精力养育他，您的态度、习惯决定了您孩子的态度和习惯。
六、注重鼓励评价，促进学生的.和谐发展。
孩子刚进入小学的时候，年幼的他们也将面临许多挑战和困难。要多用表扬激励的方式。常言道，失败是成功之母，但对这个阶段的孩子来说，“成功”是成功之母：取得进步并得到表扬，才会对学习有兴趣、有信心，为以后的学习奠定良好的基础。要努力发现孩子的点滴进步，多鼓励孩子。对学习上出现一些困难的孩子，切记不要用伤孩子自尊的话语，这样的话语可能会毁了他的一生。一年级的知识对成年人来说您肯定觉得太简单了，但对孩子却不同，而且每个孩子的接受能力不同，要多给孩子一些消化吸收的时间，不要急于求成。

下午好，很感谢各位家长在百忙中抽出时间来参加今天的家长会，很高兴能有这样一个机会，能和大家进行面对面的交流。我是三年级1。2。3。4班的英语任课教师，我姓周。今天我想就三年级的英语教学和这半学期在教学中存在的一些问题与各位家长共同探讨，以便更好地帮助孩子学好英语，用好英语，为日后的英语学习打好扎实的基础。
先说说本学期英语学习的内容：
1.26个字母大小写，会说会写，并且在书写英文字母时会正确书写顺序；在初学英语的阶段掌握好26个字母的听说读写，这对我们今后所要接触的大量的词汇的听说读写很重要
2.课本后的单词表，颜色越深表示越重要。这就要同学们回家去复习，消化这些单词。词汇是三年级考试的重要内容，一定要过关。
3.课文中的对话，日常交际用语。不要求每个同学都会背，但要求熟练，流畅的读出来，说出来。
4.听力训练：试卷中听力题的比重占三分之二。因此说每天的听录音跟读任务还是不容忽视的。
5.配套的基础训练，这是我们三年级的英语唯一的一套课外练习，我通常带领孩子在班上做完综合训练A部分的听力，而笔试就让孩子们回家去完成。综合训练B部分会作为考试卷测试孩子们这个单元的掌握情况。希望家长能及时询问孩子的小测试成绩以及了解孩子们这段时间的英语学习情况。
三年级英语，是小学英语学习中一个重要的起步阶段。其实要学好英语，课上占40%，其余的60%还需要学生在课后不断的巩固，加深记忆。在课上老师更多的是教授新知识，当然课上也会有少量的时间巩固新学的知识。但这些时间是公共的时间，而不是每个学生私有的时间，因此不可能照顾到每个学生，不可能让所有学生都达到相同的程度。况且每个学生对新知识得接受能力都是不同的，有的可能当堂就已经有很深的'印象，很难忘记，但这肯定是很少的。大部分学生都只能是初步接触了新知识，要真正接受新知识还要学生在课后多下功夫，不然肯定会和别的同学拉下差距。因此这也造成英语成绩两极分化十分严重，无论是每次的听写小测试还是刚刚结束的期中考试，有的同学100分的成绩，而有的同学只有三.四十分的成绩。因此请家长一定要从现在起重视孩子的英语学习，不然到了五六年级补都来不及了。
可是，每个班总会有一部分不自觉的学生不能按时完成作业、不能背诵课文、不做回家作业、更不能正确的听写出课文的单词，通常为了让孩子有个适应过程，我教得很慢，并且上英语课之前都安排班上读音清晰，准确的同学上台来带领全班同学读学过的课文和单词，照理说有足够的时间，可以课课过关了，可是出乎我意料的是有几个同学连第一课几个句子都不会背。每次听写的时候，总是有同学无法完成听写任务，单词过不了关，考试竟然还有相当一部分同学出现不及格现象。了解下来才知道那些孩子在家里从来就不做英语回家作业，从来就没有听英语磁带，也没有背课文和单词。对于三年级来说，英语成绩90分也差不多是正常的范围，毕竟题型还是相当容易的。因此那些不及格现象怎不让人担心呢？
英语是一门特殊的学科，光靠学校几节课时间是远远不够的。在学校老师会尽最大的努力进行教学，但课余时间还需要广大家长大力配合。如：听录音、背诵要家长多督促；每课的单词（课文 B部分）这是基础之基础，得督促孩子先背诵并家长给孩子听写这几个单词，直到全部会背会写为止。这样课堂上听写的时候，正确率才能高，可有相当一部分同学听写本上每次的听写成绩都是不及格，带回家去订正也没有家长签名，而老师也不知道家长是否了解孩子在学校的英语学习情况，希望家长能关注一下。为了协助孩子更好地学好英语，请家长配合老师完成以下工作：
1. 保证孩子每天至少边听录音，边跟读课文15分钟，要读出声音，最好家长在旁监督，会更有效。
2. 每天检查孩子的回家作业是否完成，保证第二天能按时上交。在这里我恳请每位家长认真督促孩子完成老师每天布置的作业，尤其是一开始，三年级英语刚刚接触书面作业，一定要严格要求他们的英语书写，写得不好的家长也可以要求他们重新做，过关了才给他们签名；检查作业主要看他们书写和格式以及上次老师的批改，注意检查他们有没有订正，有时候，老师在学生的作业本上批了订正，但交上来的时候学生并没有去订正，并且家长也在上面签字了。我想，老师之因此让家长在孩子的作业本上签字，也是希望通过这个途径让家长们了解孩子每天的学习情况，希望各位家长能支持老师的工作，如果您有什么意见也可以写在作业本上，便于及时沟通。
3. 开学以来，很多学生忘记带作业本，带英语课本的现象还是经常发生，上课没有书，只能和同桌共看一本书，结果是一堂课下来，老师讲的知识没有学到多少，和同桌的感情却加深了不少，我希望家长能每天按照课表提醒孩子收拾好书包，检查好明天要带的作业和课本，养成不错的学习习惯。
总而言之，请各位家长多关注孩子们的英语学习，让孩子养成不错的英语

Ladies and Gentlemen I'd planned to speak to you tonight to report on the state of the union but the events of earlier today have led me to change those plans. Today is a day for mourning and remembering. Nancy and I are pained to the core by the tragedy of the shuttle Challenger. We know we share this pain with all of the people of our country. This is truly a national loss.
Nineteen years ago almost to the day we lost three astronauts in a terrible accident on the ground. But we've never lost an astronaut in flight. We've never had a tragedy like this.
And perhaps we've forgotten the courage it took for the crew of the shuttle. But they the Challenger Seven were aware of the dangers but overcame them and did their jobs brilliantly. We mourn seven heroes: Michael Smith Dick Scobee Judith Resnik Ronald McNair Ellison Onizuka Gregory Jarvis and Christa McAuliffe.
We mourn their loss as a nation together.
For the families of the seven we cannot bear as you do the full impact of this tragedy. But we feel the loss and we're thinking about you so very much. Your loved ones were daring and brave and they had that special grace that special spirit that says "Give me a challenge and I'll meet it with joy." They had a hunger to explore the universe and discover its truths. They wished to serve and they did. They served all of us.
We've grown used to wonders in this century. It's hard to dazzle us. But for twenty-five years the United States space program has been doing just that. We've grown used to the idea of space and perhaps we forget that we've only just begun. We're still pioneers. They the members of the Challenger crew were pioneers.
And I want to say something to the schoolchildren of America who were watching the live coverage of the shuttle's take-off. I know it's hard to understand but sometimes painful things like this happen. It's all part of the process of exploration and discovery. It's all part of taking a chance and expanding man's horizons. The future doesn't belong to the fainthearted; it belongs to the brave. The Challenger crew was pulling us into the future and we'll continue to follow them.
I've always had great faith in and respect for our space program. And what happened today does nothing to diminish it. We don't hide our space program. We don't keep secrets and cover things up. We do it all up front and in public. That's the way freedom is and we wouldn't change it for a minute.
We'll continue our quest in space. There will be more shuttle flights and more shuttle crews and yes more volunteers more civilians more teachers in space. Nothing ends here; our hopes and our journeys continue.
I want to add that I wish I could talk to every man and woman who works for NASA or who worked on this mission and tell them: "Your dedication and professionalism have moved and impressed us for decades. And we know of your anguish. We share it."
There's a coincidence today. On this day three hundred and ninety years ago the great explorer Sir Francis Drake died aboard ship off the coast of Panama. In his lifetime the great frontiers were the oceans and a historian later said "He lived by the sea died on it and was buried in it." Well today we can say of the Challenger crew: Their dedication was like Drake's complete.
The crew of the space shuttle Challenger honored us by the manner in which they lived their lives. We will never forget them nor the last time we saw them this morning as they prepared for their journey and waved goodbye and "slipped the surly bonds of earth" to "touch the face of God."

I am very happy to participate in this English Summer Program because it helps me to improve my oral English.
Each day I arrive early for class; and sit in the first row which is nearest to the teacher so that I can hear the teacher clearly.
I have attended every class, not missed a single one, only because I cherish this opportunity to learn to speak English well.
Our teacher is a wonderful teacher. She speaks English slowly and clearly so that we can easily understand her. She tries hard to help us with pronunciation, intonation and rhythm and teaches us to speak English smoothly. She helps everyone with every difficult sound. She tells us stories and teaches us life skills, which will be useful to us in the future. She is very kind to us and we all love her.
In the beginning, many of our students were shy about standing up in front of the class to speak English, but with the help of our teacher; and with the encouragement of our teacher every one of our class can now stands up and speak English loudly.
Our teacher seems not to be an expert on languages. She does not tell us that the word “goodbye” originally means: ’god be with you’ or “god bless you” when we are talking about the basic expressions of saying goodbye. She does not tell us such things. She only teaches us every day English to help us to communicate with others. And that is just what I needed. So, this program has been very helpful to me.I hope there will be more such programs in the future so that many more people can benefit from it.
Now, I have a dream!
My dream is that one day I can go to America for a Chinese Summer program to teach Americans to speak Chinese and tell them about China.
My dream is that Chinese and Americans understand each other better, will be good friends forever!
